Each new school year at West Side Collaborative begins with Spirit Week. Spirit Week is a great way to introduce the students to our collaborative community while building and developing meaningful peer to peer relationships and peer to adult relationships.
The week kicked off with Twin Day where students dressed alike and posed for pictures at the end of the day. Tuesday was Pajama Day. The students could come to school in their pajamas and express their creative sides. On Wednesday students were encouraged to wear and /or bring items that represent their culture or identity in True Colors Day. Thursday was Crazy Hat Day and Spirit Day at Riverbank State Park. As a whole school, we traveled to Riverbank State Park and in advisories competed against each other in various events such as softball, kickball, WSC Zone tournaments and funny relay races. The winning advisory earned a pizza party! Many thanks go out to the numerous parent volunteers who attended the trip as chaperones. Their energy and participation was greatly appreciated. The finale of this fun-filled week ended on Friday with “Professional Day” when students dressed as a professional a potential career that they might like to choose one day.... It was a very special week!
